Cole, 86 of New Castle, DE, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE. She was born August 4, 1920 in Meyersdale, a daughter of the late Carl R. and Margaret (Saylor) Clapper. Also preceded in death by her husband, Roger Cole; her daughter, Janice (Cole) Moseley, and brothers: Robert G. Clapper, and Dale J. Clapper. Survived by her son, Allan R. Cole and his wife Mary Jean, Bethlehem, PA; grandchildren: Aaron Moseley, Ryan Moseley, Gregory Cole and Lynn Cole Reed; and great-grandchildren: Gabrielle Moseley and Nathan Cole. Marie was a graduate of Juniata College, and she received her masters degree from Madison College, now known as James Madison University in Harrisburg, VA. She taught music for the Colonial School District. Her last teaching assignments were at George Reed Middle School and McCullough Elementary School in New Castle, DE. In her leisure time Marie enjoyed traveling. Her greatest passion was her music, her expertise was in voice and piano. She spent many enjoyable hours as a member of the Northern Delaware Oratorio Society. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. The funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the New Castle United Methodist Church, New Castle, under the direction of the Gebhart Funeral Homes of New Castle County. A committal service was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Price Funeral Home Meyersdale, with the Rev. Pete Kaltenbaugh officiating. Interment Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the New Castle United Methodist Church, New Castle, DE 19720, or to the Northern Delaware Oratoria Society, c/o Judith Fullhart, Treasurer, 1602 Mendenhall Mill Rd., Hockessin, DE 19707.
