Cotter Sr., 88, Berlin, died Oct. 28, 1999, at home. Born Sept. 9, 1911, in Reedsville, W.Va., son of Karl and Mary Agnes (Davis) Cotter. Preceded in death by parents; wives: Grace Edith Engle, Betty Custer Walker and Rhea Zimmerman Cassady; infant son, Robert Eugene, and brothers: Edward, Emmett and Ralph survived by a son, Carl M. Jr., married to the former Mary Ann Ringler, Berlin; world's best grandpa to Cheryl, married to Dennis Hay; Keith, married to the former Karen Shipley; Brian, married to the former Debra Harkcom; Dana; Mary Lynn, married to David Bowser; and Michael, married to the former Daniela Helm, and special gramps to Jeremy and Jared Hay; Nicolas, Erin and Dillon Cotter; Levi and Brenden Bowser; and Drew and Tuck Cotter. Brother of: Donald, Columbus, Ohio; and Sherwood, Stow, Ohio. Former Stonycreek Township dairy farmer; former mechanic with Shanksville Auto Company and Bender Implements, Somerset, and he hauled milk with his son for several years. Member of Brothersvalley Church of the Brethren in Brotherton, where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. Also sang with the Meyersdale Men's Chorus. Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Brothersvalley Church of the Brethren, with the Rev Timothy E. Resh officiating. Interment, Pike Cemetery Brotherton.
