  CREERY
  
  Sarah Jane Creery, 88, of Somerset, died Aug. 25, 2001, at Meadowview
  Nursing Center.  Born June 2, 1913 in Somerset, daughter of the late Robert
  P. and Grace (Pifer) Houpt.  Also preceded in death by husband, Kenneth M.
  Creery, whom she married Dec. 5, 1954 - Mr. Creery died Oct. 21, 1972,
  sister, Gladys Buchholz and brothers, Robert P. and Jay Earl Houpt. 
  Survived by sister, Dorothy Brant of Somerset and many nieces and
  nephews.  Member of First Christian Church.  A 1931 graduate of Somerset
  High School and the Griffith Beauty School in Pittsburgh.  She owned and
  operated a number of beauty salons in Pa. and Ohio.  She was an
  accomplished cook, working at schools in Ohio and also the Somerset Vo-Tech
  School until her retirement in 1979.  She was well known for her Christmas
  cookies by many families in the area, especially her sand tarts and
  raisin-filled cookies.  She was also active with the Somerset Chamber of
  Commerce Visitor's Bureau Information Center.  Graveside services will be
  held at 10 a.m. today in the Husband Cemetery with Rev. Daniel F. Nichsich
  officiating.  Contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 139
  E. Main St., Somerset, Pa., 15501.  Arrangements under the direction of the
  Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home.
