Croner, 80, of Berlin, died Oct. 4, 1996, in Brothersvalley Township. Born Oct. 6, 1915, in Brothersvalley Township, son of Joseph W. and Erma (Hauger) Croner. Preceded in death by parents, and brother, Harold K. Survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Barbara Miller; sons: E. Jeffrey, married to the former Linda Wright of Rockwell, N.C.; and Gregory A., married to the former Judy Shaffer of Berlin; grandchildren: Justin, Keith, Nathan, Scott, Tracey and Steven; brothers: John W., Berlin RD 3; and Richard F. of Berlin. He was a graduate of Berlin High School and Juniata College, where he served on the Board of Trustees. He is a World War II Army veteran, co-founder and past officer of Croner Inc., past president and Chairman of the Board of the former National Bank of Western Pennsylvania, and director on the board of Rockwell Casket Company, Rockwell, N.C. Member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Berlin, and Berlin Lions Club. His hobbies included farming and fly fishing. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Rev. Carl W. Schwarm officiating. Interment, Berlin IOOF Cemetery. Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Trinity UCC Croner Scholarship Fund, Berlin, Pa., 15530, or the charity of your choice.
