"Ted" Custer, 75, of Cairnbrook, died Dec. 31, 1999, at home. Born Feb. 28, 1924, in Shade Township, son of Orange and Bessie (Orris) Custer. Preceded in death by parents, wife, the former Ellen June Duppstadt, brother Joseph, sisters Marie Small and Erma Jack, and grandson Shawn Slough. Survived by these children: Robert W. Duppstadt, married to the former Jackie Watkins, of Rockingham, N.C., Nancy, married to Ernest Blough, of Hooversville, and Betty Lou Custer, with whom he resided; grandchildren Tammy and Kevin Duppstadt and John, Tim and Holly Pruss; great-granddaughter Destiny Pruss; sisters Nellie Small and Ida Leppert, both of Central City, Margaret Meals of Stone Mountain, Ga., Edna Robinson of Wadsworth, Ohio, Jeanette Frazier of Berlin, Virginia, married to Adrian Nagle, of Sebring, Fla., Beverly married to Donald Penrod, of Windber, and Marian, married to George Evans Jr., of Walkerville, Md.; and brother-in-law Lynol Jack of Central City. A retired truck driver and World War II Army veteran. Member of Central City VFW Post 7457 and American Legion Post 449. Family will received friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, with the Rev. Earl Crissman officiating.
