Darr, 88, Siemon Lakeview Manor Estate, formerly of Sipesville, died April 16, 1987 in the manor. Born May 3, 1898, in Lincoln Township, daughter of the late Simon P. and Annie (Bittner) Baker. Preceded in death by husband, Clyde J., July 28, 1979, and one sister, Blanche R. Miller. Survived by these children: Mrs. Meredith (Arlene) Lohr, Rock Hill, S.C.; Mrs. Edward (Janet) Onstead, San Jose, Calif.; Clyde E. (Buddy), Somerset; and Warren G., Silver Springs, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Pauline Ferguson, Somerset RD 2; five grandchildren, Terry and Pamela Darr, Sally and Laura Onstead and Cindy Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Yvonne and Matthew Thompson and Benjamin Darr. A life-long member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, life member of the Lutheran Church Women, former home department secretary, past president of Ladies Volunteer Bible Class, former Sunday School, Bible School and public school teacher. Former member of the senior choir, Sipesville Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, Needles Eye Club, Sipesville Homemakers and past advisor to the Sipesville 4-H Club. Voted into the state Voter Hall of Fame because she voted for 50 consecutive years in last November election. Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, Pastor George Walton officiating. Interment, church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Casebeer Church building fund. Body will lie in state in the church one hour before the service. Daily American, April 17, 1987 [D0075]
