Paul Wesley Douglass, D.D., 69, of Somerset, died April 24, 1996, at his residence. Born March 5, 1927 in Elizabeth, Pa. Son of Rev. Nelson McCune and Isabelle (Stinogle) Douglass. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Vernon H. Douglass and Elijah P. Douglass. Survived by wife, the former Violet Lorraine Sweeney, to whom he was married for 45 years, and these children: Mrs. Terry L. (Faith Pauline) Elkins, Rochester, MI; Paul W. Douglass H [sic], married to the former Patricia Campbell, Lusby, Md.; grandchildren: Garrett and Shayne Douglass; mother-in-law, Tressa Sweeney, New Eagle. Brother of Nelson H. Douglass, Newport News, Va.; Robert S. Douglass, Port Richey, Fla.; Samuel W. Douglass, Pittsburgh; Charles Douglas, Spring Grove; Leonard M. Douglass, Clairton; Mrs. Charles (Grace) Pierce, Monongahela; Mrs. James (Isabelle) Musser, Beaver; Mrs. George (Margaret) Robbie and Mrs. Ralph (Sylvia) Motter, both of Monaca. Member of Confluence Church of the Nazarene. U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Graduate of Elizabeth-Taylor Alderdice High School. Received bachelor of arts degree from Pacific Western University, master of arts degree from International Baptist Seminary, and doctor of theology and doctor of divinity degrees from International Bible Institute and Seminary. Past president of Mercer, Philipsburg and Somerset ministeriums. Trustee of Pennsylvania Council for Alcohol Problems, and Pennsylvania Council for Education of Drugs and Alcohol. Trustee of Somerset Food Pantry. Member of Somerset Kiwanis, Somerset Amateur Radio Club. Former pastor of Congregational United Church of Christ of Charleroi and had pastored at the Churches of the Nazarene of Arona, Mercer, Waltersburg, Philipsburg, Somerset, and Ebensburg. Had been interim pastor at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church of Gray prior to retirement. Friends will be received from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Somerset Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Dr. J. Roy Fuller, Rev. John Buchko and Rev Thomas Charles officiating.
