FAILINGER Mrs. Lillie Augustine Failinger died at her home in Listonburg, Thursday, April 29, 1943, at the age of 84 years. She was a daughter of the late Jonas and Julia Pyle Augustine, who were early settlers of Somerset County. Her father served three years, 1857-58 and 59 in the House of Representatives. Mrs. Failinger spent her entire life in the community in which she died, having been born near Addison. She married William Failinger when 29 years of age, and shortly thereafter moved to Listonburg. To this union were born five daughters. The first daughter, Lulu, died in infancy. Mr. Failinger preceded his wife to the grave 20 years ago. Surviving are her four daughters, Mrs. Lena Krause and Mrs. Letha Brooks, of Pittsburgh; Mrs. Maude Brown, Canton, O., and Miss Edna Failinger, Listonburg, who for the past eight years has given loving care to her mother, doing everything possible to brighten her declining years. A brother, Rufus Augustine, Confluence, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. She was a life-time member of the Methodist Church and was regular in her attendance at all of its services, as long as her health permitted. She was the oldest resident of Listonburg and a loyal citizen of the community she loved so well. She had the respect and love of all who knew her, and will be greatly missed. In compliance with her request, services were held in the Methodist Church at Listonburg, Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., Rev. G. L. Smith officiating. The hymns sung were selected by her. They were, "Some Day He'll Make It Plain", "Lead Kindly Light" and "Abide With Me". The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Interment at Addison. Meyersdale Republican, May 13, 1943
