All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ JACOB FAZENBAKER Jacob Fazenbaker Hit and Killed by Car on Route 40 GRANTSVILLE, Md., Oct. 24 - Jacob Nelson Fazenbaker, 52, of near Bear Creek, Garrett County, was killed instantly last Saturday night at 12:05 o'clock when he was struck by a car while crossing Route 40 at Ashby's Tavern west of Grantsville. The car was driven by Andrew Schlossnagle of Accident, on his way home from Baltimore. Dr. E. I. Baumgartner, Garrett County Medical Examiner, reported Fazenbaker died as a result of a crushed chest wall, punctured lung, fracture of the left arm and leg, and brush burns over the body. State Troopers Glen D. Folk and Blair J. Buckel investigated the accident, the cause of which has not been fully determined. The victim was the son of the late John and Susan (Bittinger) Fazenbaker and was born at Bear Creek near Accident. He was sometimes employed as a logger and he was unmarried. Surviving are five brothers, William, George, James, Joseph and Martin Fazenbaker, of Accident. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Bethany Brethren Church near Grantsville.
