FISHER Somerset Flight Instructor Killed Accidentally Wife Gave Birth to Son Within 24 Hours After Husband's Tragic Death Second Lieutenant Theodore H. Fisher, 23, of Somerset, a Marine Corps flight instructor, was killed by falling from a plane during maneuvers at Palatine, Ill., April 7th. His wife, the former Peggy Jane Bender, gave birth to a son in the Somerset Community Hospital, last Sunday evening, less than 24 hours after hearing of her husband's tragic death. Mrs. Fisher had been staying with her husband in Illinois until a few days before his death. The young couple were married in Somerset in March, 1944. The deceased officer was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fisher. His father is president of the Somerset County Memorial Park company. The family moved to Somerset from Greensburg in 1940. Young Fisher was a junior in Carnegie Tech when he enlisted as a flyer in the Marine Corps on August 6, 1943. His body arrived at Somerset for burial, Monday morning. Funeral services were conducted in the Somerset Methodist Church, Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Dr. I. Hess Wagner, assisted by Rev. Ralph Huntsman. Interment was made in Somerset County Memorial Park with military honors. Members of the Somerset American Legion Post acted as pallbearers. Meyersdale Republican, April 12, 1945
