She was born April 20, 1877, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Chambers. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, John C. Garlitz, and the following children: John William, Mrs. Lewis Carrick, Harry, Mrs. Howard Kneph, James, Pauline and Paul, and two grandchildren. Mrs. Garlitz was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, North Side, Pittsburgh, and was buried in the beautiful Catholic cemetery of St. Michael's Church, West Salisbury, Rev. Howard T. Miller officiated at the obsequies and delivered a very able and beautiful discourse on the subject of Death, which emphasized the thought of the certainty of death, and the necessity of solemn preparation to meet our God.
