  James R. Gettinger, 74, Somerset, and formerly of Merom, Ind., died Sept. 30,
  2005, at Sullivan County Community Hospital. He was born March 29, 1931, in
  Terre Haute, Ind. to George and Edith Stinnett Gettinger. He was preceded in
  death by his parents and one brother, George Gettinger Jr. Survivors include
  his wife, Sandra Daugherty Gettinger; three sons, David Gettinger, Miami; Jim
  Gettinger, Terre Haute, Ind. and George Gettinger, Tamarac, Fla.; one brother,
  Jack Gettinger, Merom, Ind.; one sister, Patty Bean, Merom, Ind.; and three
  grandchildren. He was a retired conservationist with the Soil Conservation
  Service in Somerset County. He was a member of Congregational Christian Church
  in Merom, Ind. Carlisle Lodge 3 Free & Accepted Masons and Sullivan Benevolent
  and Protective Order of Elks 911. A service was held Oct. 4 at Banks & Brust
  Funeral Home, Sullivan. The Rev. Paul Gettinger officiated. Burial in Merom
  Cemetery.
