Earl Gindlesperger, 85, Homewood United Church of Christ Retirement Home, Martinsburg, formerly of the Boswell area, died March 30, 1976 at the home. Born July 30, 1890 in Jenner Township, Somerset County, a son of Levi J. and Rebecca Griffith Gindlesperger. Preceded in death by parents, a sister Mrs. Mary Mack, brother Robert M. gindlesperger, half brothers Harvey Gindlesperger and Russell B. Winters and several infant brothers and sisters. Survived by his widow, the former Mary E. Gonder and sisters: Annie, wife of Homer Shaffer, Boswell RD 1; Edna, widow of Harry Sowerbrower, Hollsopple RD 1; and Edith, widow of Walter E. Yoder, Hollsopple RD 2. He was an ordained United Church of Christ minister for 44 years and served churches in Willscreek, Somerset County Charge and Shrewsbury, York County Charge. After his retirement he served as a supply minister in North Carolina. Member of Bethlehem Church in Suffolk Virginia and a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Ill. Friends received from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday until time of service at 2 p.m. at Joseph H. Hoffman Funeral Home, 227 Allegheny St. Boswell with the Rev. Richard H. Shellenberger officiating. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery. Somerset American, March 31, 1976 [G0445]
