Grant, 77, of Fairchance, Pa., formerly of Garrett, died Jan. 8, 1973, in Uniontown Hospital. Surviving are his wife, the former Evelyn Herwig; and the following children: Mrs. Harry Harned of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Theodore Q. Blaney of Gans, Pa.; James C. Grant of Albuquerque, N.M.; Mrs. John O. Hoover of Fairchance; and John K. Grant of Lorain, Ohio; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and the following sisters: Mrs. Emma Boyer, Cumberland; Mrs. Thelma Lenhart and Mrs. Elizabeth Stauffer, Garrett; and Mrs. Orpha Joyce of Tarentum. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Leona Grant in 1964; a son, Roy, in 1935, and a sister, Inez Fifick, in 1972. A World War I veteran, Mr. Grant was also a retired B&O Railroad employe [sic] and a retired U.S. Steel worker. Funeral service was held last Thursday afternoon in James W. Goldsboro Funeral Home, Fairchance, with Rev. Richard Downing officiating. Interment in Lafayette Memorial Park. Meyersdale Republican, January 18, 1973 [G0891]
