Griffith, 88, former resident of Meyersdale, died Tuesday, September 20, at the home of his son, Dr. George C. Griffith, Pasadena, Calif. The remains will be brought by his son to Meyersdale, arriving Friday. Memorial services will be held at the Price Funeral Home Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, the Rev. I. C. Paul officiating. He was born Dec. 11, 1861, in New Lexington, Somerset County, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Griffith. He lived all his life in Meyersdale until 1932 when, after the death of his wife, Mrs. Linda Cupp Griffith, he went to Philadelphia to live with his son, Dr. George Griffith. In 1944 he accompanied his son, who is a heart specialist, to California. Mr. Griffith was a blacksmith by trade in his early years. He also dealt in horses, carriages and wagons at his shop on Clay Street. Besides his son he is survived by two daughters, Ruth and Margaret in Pennsylvania, and by three grandsons, Paul and George Jr., sons of Dr. Griffith, Dr. Charles Q. Griffith of Altoona and a granddaughter, Mrs. Albert Glessner of State College, the two latter the children of his deceased son, Charles Q. Griffith.
