Hampe, 84, of Meyersdale, formerly of Somerset passed away Dec. 4, 2000 at Beverly Health Care Center in Meyersdale. Born May 9, 1916 in Somerfield. Son of the late Harvey and Bessie (Klink) Hampe. Preceded in death by parents, sisters Lucy Hampe, Edith Colflesh, and Anna Hampe; brothers Earl, Vernon, and Clyde Hampe and close friends Pauline Renner and Ethel Spiker. Survived by step-children Joseph Renner of Somerset and Charles Renner of Central City; sisters Norma Crissey of Baltimore, Md., Margaret Baughman of Meyersdale, Jane Engle of Berlin, Doris Kleinert of Berlin and Leora Lensbouer of Friedens; brothers Ralph Hampe of Hookstown and David Hampe of Somerset; and numerous nieces and nephews. Veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II and a member of Old Bethel Church. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Pastor Douglas Baker officiating.
