Handwerk, retired farmer of Garrett R.D., died in the Hazel McGilvery Hospital, Monday morning, June 23. He had been in ill health for some time, and was a patient in the hospital only 10 hours before his death. He was born February 20, 1862, the son of Adam and Mary (Christner) Handwerk. His wife, Mary Crowe Handwerk, preceded him in death. Surviving are three sons, Lt. Col. Morris C. Handwerk, U.S. Army, at present stationed in California; Dalton T. Handwerk, San Francisco, and Galen O., at home. Two sisters, Mrs. Asa Shuck of Meyersdale and Mrs. Harvey Romesburg of Rockwood, also survive. Friends were received at the Price Funeral Home until Thursday morning. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock in St. Paul (Wilhelm) Evangelical and Reformed Church, Rev. George K. Ely officiating. Interment in the church cemetery under the direction of W. C. Price and Son. Meyersdale Republican, June 26, 1947
