Edward Herring, 67, Somerset died Sept. 30, 1978 at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Oct. 1, 1910 in Somerset, he was a son of William and Emma (Logue) Herring. He is survived by his widow, the former Harrietta (Hattie) Snider and these children: Walter E. (Pat) Herring, Somerset; Mrs. Craig Peggy Murray, Somerset RD 6; three grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Walter Alice Oehling, Somerset. Preceded in death by brothers: Clyde, William and Forrest. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Somerset Volunteer Fire Department, Somerset Lodge 358 F and AM, Altoona Consistory and Jaffa Shrine. He was a past commander of post 181 of the American Legion, past district and past western commander of the Pa. American Legion, he was also a member of the Somerset County Voiture No. 609-40 and 8. He was a veteran of WW II. Mr. Herring owned and operated garages in the Somerset area since 1931 and presently was the American Motors and Jeep dealer. Friends are being received in the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home, where services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Theodore Cole officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
