James, 67, formerly of Salisbury, died unexpectedly early Thursday morning, October 17, 1991, at his home. He resided in Mt. Union. Born Feb. 11, 1924, in Meyersdale; and Mark, of Salisbury. He was preceded in death by two other brothers, Donald and Joseph. He graduated from Salisbury High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received honorable discharge in 1945. He moved to Mt. Union in 1947 as manager of the former Acme Market and later managed Hill's Drug Store. In 1954, he started as teller At Penn Central National Bank and eventually rose to the position of vice president and member of the board of directors. He retired from PCNB in 1979. He also recently retired as co-owner of the Mount Union Beverage Co. In 1989, he was awarded Citizen of the year honors by the Mt. Union Chapter of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mt. Union; also member of American Legion Post 107, the Chamber of Commerce, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Loyal Order of the Moose, Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 668 and the Lions Club. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mt. Union, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Grundon officiating. Interment, Mt. Union Cemetery.
