Mr. Knepper was retired from the Fire Department of Hercules, Va., with 34 years of service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was also a member of Fairlawn Presbyterian Church, a member of the New River Sams Camping Club, a charter member of the Fairlawn Fire Department with 28 years of service, and a lifetime member of the VFW. Mr. Knepper was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Nicewander Knepper, and by one brother, Walter Knepper. Survivors include his wife, Audrey B. Knepper of Dublin, Va.; two daughters and sons-in-law; Donna Kay and Doug Martin of Newport, Va.; and Barbara Sue and Early Duncan of Radford, Va.; one step-daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Lee Wensel of Christiansburg. Va.; one sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Calvin Sipple of Meyersdale; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Regina Knepper of Richmond; two grandchildren: Perry D. and David D. Martin; and two step-grandchildren, Lauren and Seth Wensel. Funeral services were held March 7 at the Fairlawn Presbyterian Church, with Dr. William H. Jackson officiating. Interment followed in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, where the members of the VFW Post #776 conducted military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Fairlawn Presbyterian Church, 6900 Pulaski Avenue, Radford VA 24141. New Republic, March 13, 1997 [K0850]
