Koba, 82, Quemahoning Street, Boswell, died March 20, 2006, at home. Born Nov. 7, 1923, in Pine Hill, son of John and Kathrine (Drabik) Koba. Preceded in death by parents; former wife, Violet (Strickler) Koba; infant grandson, James Gindlesperger; three sons, Cary and Terrance Koba and Glenn Kimmel; infant daughter, Mary Koba; and sister, Olga Smithson. Survived by daughters, Patricia Joyner, Boswell, and Jenny, married to David Matkoskey, Acosta; son, Randy, married to Lori Frampton, Stoystown; daughter- in-law, Nan Kimmel, Somerset; extended family members, "Red" Bellinder and Kathy Corden, both of Boswell; grandchildren, Vicky Pyle, Christina Keepes, Danielle Matkoskey and Kayla Koba; great-grandchildren, Christian Pyle and Erin Pyle and several step grand-children, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Brother of Mary, widow of Charles Fedinatz, Jenners; Walter, Jerome; Ann, married to Father Ivan Dornic, Baltimore; and Julia, widow of Conrad Helsel, Johnstown. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. Lifetime member of the Jenner Rod and Gun Club, World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, enlisting June 2, 1942, and being discharged, Jan. 25, 1947. Recipient of the following ribbons and medals: Asiatic-Pacific (one star), American Area, World War II Victory Medal, European-African (five stars) and Philippine Liberation (one star). Retired employee of People's Gas, Light and Coke Co., Chicago, with 30 years of service. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Main Street, Boswell, where a service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Father Ivan Dornic officiating. Interment, St. Mary's Orthodox Cemetery, Jenners, with graveside military rites in charge of the Somerset County Honor Guard.
