Christine Koontz, 81, of Friedens, formerly of Stoystown, died Feb. 26, 1998, at home. Born Oct. 24, 1916, in Quemahoning Township. Daughter of Jacob P. and Miriam (Mostoller) Zimmerman. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Harold L.; infant son, Nicholas, and brothers, John and Samuel Zimmerman. Survived by these daughters: Gretchen Koontz, Central City; Alyson Spangler, Somerset, and Martha, married to William Mignogna, Stoystown. Grandchildren: Molly Warnick, Sgt. Quinn A. Donahue, USMC; Merritt Donahue, Stefan Oglevee, Elizabeth Marteeny, Ethan and Ashley Oglevee, Nicholas and Garrett Mignogna. Great grandchildren: Elijah Warnick and Chandler Marteeny. Sister of Frances Zufall; C. David Zimmerman, married to the former Joan Barnhart, and Mrs. Thomas M. (Joy) Zimmerman, all of Stoystown; Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Pile, Friedens; Maxine Pierce, Joliet, Ill., and Rev. Thomas H. Zimmerman, married to the former Verdean Meyers, Rockwood RD. Sister-in-law of Elaine Zimmerman, Hooversville RD; Georgiana Zimmerman, Stoystown, and Kathryn Whipkey, Somerset. Member of Grace Lutheran Church, Stoystown, and Forbes Area Senior Citizens. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, Rev. Walter L. Startzel. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown.
