EDWARD D. LEONARD

  Edward D. Leonard, 83, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fulton N. 
Shipley, about 9:30 Wednesday evening.  He was born in West Virginia, April 1, 
1865, the son of John and Anna Helmick Leonard.
  Mr. Leonard was at one time engaged in the merchantile business in Meyersdale, 
but later moved to Georgia.  His wife, the former Margaret Rees of Meyersdale, 
passed away in 1941.
  He is survived by two children - Mrs. Shipley, with whom he made his home in 
his declining years, and Edward D., Jr., of Macon, Ga.  Another daughter, Mrs. 
Nelle Shirley, preceded him in death.  He is also survived by three 
grandchildren, Mrs. Edward Walker, Miss Elizabeth Shipley and Thomas Shipley of 
Meyersdale and by two great-grandchildren.
  Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at three o'clock at the Shipley 
home on Meyers Ave., the Rev. H. K. Hilmer officiating.  Interment in Union 
Cemetery under the direction of H. R. Konhaus, mortician.
  It has been requested that no flowers be sent.
