Hayes Ling, 79, Somerset, (Milford Township) died Dec. 19, 1998, at Somerset Hospital. Born Feb. 4, 1919, in Johnstown, son of the late Harry Earle and Naomi (Dixon) Ling. Also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Ling. Survived by his wife, the former Lorene Maust and these children: Peggy Pletcher of Friedens and her friend, Keith Durst of Somerset; Robert Ling, married to the former Ginger Mitchell of Somerset; Mrs. Arthur (Glenda) Nardone of Arvada, Colo.; Jeffry Ling of Somerset; and Mark Ling, married to the former Michelle Morgan of Somerset; grandchildren; Lori Ling, Amanda Pletcher, Cheryl, Anthony, April and Jacob Ling. Brother of Mrs. Roy (Phyllis) Walker of Buena Park, Calif.; Mrs. Dr. Robert (Margorie) Thompson of South Bend, Ind.; Hubert Ling, married to the former Marjorie Flick of Blaugh; and sister-in-law, Jane Ling of Homosassa, Fla. He was a retired farmer and graduate of Somerset High School. Member of Calvary United Methodist Church, New Centerville & Rural Volunteer Fire Department and the Milford Grange. He loved playing ball and bowling. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Somerset County Memorial Park with the Rev. Raymond E. Lyon officiating. Contributions may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church, 239 W. Church Street, Somerset, Pa., 15501. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, in the Calvary United Methodist Church.
