Maurer, 54, Hooversville, went to be with the Lord Oct. 18, 2005 at home. Born June 24, 1951 in Johnstown, son of Carl and Effie (Thomas) Maurer, Hooversville. Also survived by his wife of 31 years the former LaDonna Miller; sons, Chad and fiancˇe Lisa Gowarty, Jerome; and Craig and special friend Megan Jeschonek, Hooversville; grandchildren, Zachary and Mollie Weis, and Kristen and Andrew Gowarty; mother and father-in-law: Josephine and Irvin Miller, Central City; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A 1971 graduate of North Star High School. Employed by Fleetwood Folding Trailers, Somerset for 15 years. Member of Kantner Assembly of God, and Co. B, 56th Regiment Civil War Re-enactors. Life member of Hooversville VFD, and he volunteered with skating at the Hooversville Community Building. He loved hunting, and was well known for his Civil War displays. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, 976 Barn St., Hooversville. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Friday at Kantner Assembly of God. The Rev. Timothy A. Farkas officiating. Interment Beam Cemetery.
