Born Aug. 1, 1918, in Olyphant, a son of the late Simeon S. and Paulania (Mudryka) Metrinko. Also preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. Survived by his wife, the former Helen M. Berkley, and two children: John Simeon Metrinko, married to the former Christine Rigal, Okeechobee, Fla., and Amy Suzann Metrinko, Export; also two grandchildren, Matthew Simeon and Michael Stephan Metrinko. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he served in the European and Asian theaters. Member of the United Methodist Church, Meyersdale, and formerly a member of the Greek Orthodox Catholic Church. Also a member of American Legion Post 112 and B.P.O.E. Meyersdale. "Sim" was a teacher at Meyersdale Area High School from 1947 to 1982, where he coached baseball, football and basketball. He was a P.I.A.A. sports official for 30 years. He managed the Meyersdale community playground and Little League program for many years. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where a service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday with Pastor Craig Lyman officiating. Interment, Union Cemetery, Meyersdale. Memorials may be made to the Meyersdale United Methodist Church window fund, Main Street, Meyersdale, Pa. 15552. Daily American, October 25, 1999 [M1177]
