He was born in Petersburg, W.Va., September 28, 1873, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Naylor, both of that place. He has been a resident of Meyersdale for 20 years and for many years one of the leaders and active workers who kept the colored church on Large Street going. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Willya Naylor, four daughters, Mrs. Earl Spillard, Mrs. John Freeman and Mrs. Walter Jennings, all of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Archibald Wills, of Cumberland, Md.; two sons, Strawder and Carter, both at home; one brother, Seymore Naylor, of Petersburg, W.Va., and one grandchild. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 in the A.M.E. Zion Church on Large Street. Reverends Thomas and Terry were the officiating ministers. Interment followed in the Union Cemetery under the direction of W. C. Price & Son, local morticians. Meyersdale Republican, August 29, 1940
