   Shirley G. Newman, 72 of Meyersdale, died April 8, 2007 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical
  Center, Johnstown. 
   She was born October 4, 1934 in Casselman, a daughter of Herbert H. and Viola B.
  (Putman) Schardt. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oney O. Newman in June
  2003; brothers: Gordon Schardt, and William John Schardt; and sisters: Verda Musser, and
  Audrey Hillegas. 
   She is survived by four children: Sharon, wife of Tom Smith, Meyersdale; David Newman,
  and his wife Helen, Grantsville, MD; Randy Newman, and his wife Janet, Meyersdale; and
  Greg Newman, and his wife Kathy, Meyersdale. "Nan" will be sadly missed by her
  grandchildren: Stacie Yoder, Jason Smith, Shane Smith, Brett Newman, Brian Newman, Brandi
  Phillips, Sara Ohler, Laura Lloyd, Beth Newman, Emily Newman, and Jenna Newman. Great
  grandchildren: Drew, Gabriel and Tyler Yoder, Katie Kelly, Lance Smith, Blake and Gage
  Smith, Dakota and McKenzie Phillips, and Gavin Newman. Also survived by a sister, Bernice
  Zimmerman, and a brother, James Schardt. 
   Friends were received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Price Funeral Home
  Meyersdale, where service was conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Phil Thompson
  officiating. Interment Meyersdale Area Union Cemetery at a time convenient to the family.
