NORRIS James Elwood Norris, 83, of Hagerstown, Md., died Wednesday, March 22, 1989, at the Washington County Hospital. Born in Portage, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Elizabeth Norris. He was a graduate of the Teachers School Southwestern Street Normal School of California, Pa. He worked for M. P. Moller Works for 29 years, retiring in 1971. He was a member of St. James Brethren Church. He was also a member of the Walnut Towers Senior Citizens. He is survived by his wife, Violet G. Lenhart Norris; two daughters, Beth A. Shank, of Hagerstown, Md., and A. Lois Graybill of Taylor, Texas; one son, James A. Norris; of Frederick, Md.; one sister, Ruth Twigg, of Mt. Savage, Md.; three brothers, Roy Norris of Meyersdale; David Norris of Mt. Savage, Md.; and Raymond Norris, of Fairhope; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md., the Rev. Brian H. Moore officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
