Norris was the second soldier to be returned to this vicinity within the week. His body arrived on Tuesday evening at the Thomas Funeral Home. Pfc. Norris was killed in action on the Anzio Beachhead on June 11, 1944. He was a member of Co. K, 361st Regt., 91st Infantry Division, and had been in the service since November 1943. He was born in Garrett on April 17, 1921, son of the late Mary Elizabeth (Roby) and Albert Norris. He was married to Pauline (Housel) Norris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Housel of Salisbury. In addition to his wife, Pfc. Norris is survived by a young son, Alexander; by one sister, Mrs. Earl Twigg, Wellersburg; and four brothers: James E., St. James, Md.; Raymond, Wellersburg; David, Mt. Savage, Md., and Roy, Meyersdale. Funeral services were conducted at the home of his wife's parents at 2:30 p.m., August 5. The Rev. Ira S. Monn, pastor of St. John's Reformed Church, officiated. Members of the Walker-Harris Post of the V.F.W. acted as honor guard and gave him a military funeral. Interment was made in the Garrett Cemetery in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas.
