He spent many summers vacationing in Grantsville where he had many friends. Mr. Osborn was the son of Marshall and Clarissa Springston Osborn and had been a resident of Bridgeport for forty years. He was a conductor on the C. L. and W. division of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, resigning when he was made deputy sheriff under the late John Anderson. He succeeded Anderson as sheriff, serving two terms, and later became Safety Director at the Yorkville Tin Plant of Wheeling Steel. He subsequently headed the mill police force until June 1, 1942 when he retired. On October 26, 1899 he married Miss Margaret Clayland, who survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Johanna Glaser and Mrs. Emma Zettlemeyer, both of Cleveland. A son, Robert Clayland Osborn, preceded him in death, January 4, 1929.
