Born Oct. 29, 1924 in Paint Twp., son of William H. and Nellie (Baker) Phillips. Preceded in death by parents; infant sister Katherine Eldora Phillips; sister Betty Jane Zimmerman; and brothers Thomas Richard Phillips Sr., James Albert Phillips and William Henry Phillips. Survived by wife of almost 52 years, the former Doris Fleck; children Susan D. Drazenovich of Windber and her very special friend Ron Maurer of Davidsville, Douglas L., married to the former Cynthia Cuppctt of Keezletown, Va., and Nancy Kay, wife of Larry Glessner of Belew's Creek, N.C.; grandchildren Rachel E. and Sarah Phillips and Amanda and T Glessner. Brother of Genevieve Brown of Harrisburg and William Lee Phillips of Windber. Member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Hollsopple, and the USWA. Retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown plant and a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips loved to attend gospel song festivals and enjoyed playing guitar. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Route 403 and Church Road Davidsville. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel U.M. Church. Rev. Thomas J. Michalko officiating. There will be no viewing at the church. Following cremation, interment will be held at the Richland Cemetery at a later date.
