He was born in Grantsville, he was the son of the late Silas and Anna (Metz) Platter. He was a member of the Maranatha Assembly of God Church, a retired grocery storekeeper and was preceded in death by his wife, Velma P. Groves. He is survived by two sons, Neil Platter, Baltimore, Md. and Roger Platter, Grafton, W. Va.; five daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Johnson, Frederick, Md.; Miss Ethel Platter, Baltimore, Mrs. Phyllis Bittinger, Mrs. Carol Frickey and Mrs. Peggy Leasher, all of Grantsville, Md.; four half-sisters, Mrs. Ethel Durst, Jennings, Mrs. Beulah Barnes, Cumberland, Md.; Mrs. Pearl Beaver, Piedmont, W. Va., and Mrs. Edna Wolf, Oakland, Md.; 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home. Services were conducted at the Maranatha Assembly of God Church by the Rev. William Ferguson and the Rev. J.R. Meadows. Interment was in the Bittinger Cemetery. The Republic, June 17, 1982 [P0650]
