Mrs. Point, widow of the late Frank Point, died at a hospital at Alta, Iowa, Thursday, January 25, after an illness of several months. She had been suffering from diabetes, which was the cause of her death. She was born near Mt. Zion, a few miles east of here, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd George Layman, early settlers of Garrett County. Her early life was spent here and about forty years ago she moved to Newell, Iowa, where she has since made her home. She has kept in touch with her relatives and many friends here by occasional visits, the last of which was made about two years ago. Mrs. Point is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Hobby, Newell, Iowa, and Miss Esther Point, Washington, D.C. In addition, she also leaves two sisters and three brothers, namely Mrs. Etta V. Engle, Grantsville, Mrs. Lee Stocker, Roundup, Mont., Norval Layman and George Layman, Newell, and Harry Layman, Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Point was also related to Mrs. William Turner and Mr. Scott Layman of Grantsville. Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 28, at Newell, and interment was in the Newell Cemetery.
