Born May 10, 1906, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late A.J. and Helen (Aiken) Lohr. She was a 1926 graduate of Somerset High School. In Oakland she was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for over 30 years and was active in the United Methodist Women. Past worthy matron of Chapter 67, Order of the Eastern Star, where she remained active until her death; member of Youghiogheny Glades Chapter of the D.A.R.; member of the Republican Women's Club; and member of the Loar Auxiliary of Garrett County (Md.) Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Reaford B. Purbaugh; one sister, Mrs. John Buelman, Somerset; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Burial took place March 17 in Union Cemetery, Meyersdale. Daily American, April 3, 1985 [P1097]
