Savage, Md., died Nov. 17, 1975, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, where he had been admitted Sept. 27. He had been in failing health the past five years. Born in Fairhope, he was a son of the late Henry and Emma (Hutzell) Purbaugh. His wife, the former Theresa Collins, died in 1958. He was a retired coal miner and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mt. Savage, and the Holy Name Society. Surviving are three daughters, Sister Mary Pacifica, SSND, Baltimore; Mrs. Mildred Clark and Miss Alice Purbaugh, Mt. Savage; a son, Patrick W. Purbaugh, Frostburg; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Sadie Cordrey, Meyersdale; and two brothers, William Purbaugh, Meyersdale; and Reaford Purbaugh, Oakland, Md.
