Purbaugh, 76, veteran Lincoln, Nebr., realtor and resident of Lancaster County, Nebr., since 1885, died on Sunday, May 10, following a five year illness. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., on Wednesday, May 13, at St. Paul's Evangelical Church with Rev. C. F. Flick officiating. Surviving are a daughter, Grace Purbaugh of Springfield, Mo., and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Shafer of Lincoln, and Mrs. Grace Slagle, of Meyersdale. While a member of the now dissolved Purbaugh & Palm real estate firm, he was active in construction of the Lincoln Theater and the Cornhusker Hotel, and the Rudge & Guenzel Building, and was a promoter of the Emerald to Lincoln brick paving. Mr. Purbaugh went from the Meyersdale community where he spent his early years to Emerald and entered the livestock business. He went to Lincoln in 1909 and became a real estate agent. He laid out the old Electric Park addition at 14th and South and also planned the Lake View addition in Lincoln. He was a former member of the chamber of commerce and Elks lodge.
