  MARY PURBAUGH
  
    Mary Rebecca Purbaugh, 93, of LaVale, Md., formerly of Meyersdale,
  died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, in Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
    Born Sept. 28, 1904, in Meyersdale, she was the daughter of the
  late John and Annie (Schultz) Bowman.  In addition to her parents,
  she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Purbaugh, on
  March 18, 1985.
    Mrs. Purbaugh was a member of the Grace Brethren Church in
  Meyersdale.
    She is survived by one son, William J. Purbaugh, and wife, Marian,
  of Mentor, Ohio; and one daughter, Carol Louise Phillips, and
  husband, Ed, of LaVale; one brother, Elmer "Bud" Bowman of
  Meyersdale; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 18
  great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
    Friends were received Jan. 18 at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills
  Mortuary, National Highway, LaVale.  Services were conducted at the
  funeral home Jan. 19, with the Rev. Albert Valentine and assistant,
  Walter Fike, officiating.  Interment, Union Cemetery, Meyersdale.
