Born June 11, 1916, in Brooklyn, N.Y. Daughter of Justyn and Anna (Barchock) Zahar. Preceded in death by parents; husband, John J. Sr., Oct. 15, 1973; infant daughter, Deanna, and brother, Joseph. Survived by twin daughter and son: Gloria J., wife of Harold Shaulis, with whom she resided, and John J. Jr., married to Sally Ann Jakab, Harrisburg; four grandchildren: Debora and Lorri Shaulis and John J. III and Michael Saponsky, and one great-granddaughter, Kayla Powell. Also survived by brother, Edward, married to Mary Perry, of Erie, and sister-in-law, Sarah Zahar, Boswell. Member of St. Brendan's Catholic Church, Youngstown, Ohio, and auxiliary to Boswell Post 461, American Legion. Along with husband, she owned and operated former Merchants Hotel, Boswell, for many years. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, followed by Legion auxiliary service. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Boswell, the Rev. Father Blase Wegierski O.F.M. Conv. Celebrant. Interment, St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
