  HOWARD SCHARDT
  
    Howard F. Schardt, 69, of York, Pa., formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y.,
  died Sunday, Nov. 16, 1997, at York Hospital.
    He was born March 11, 1928, in Meyersdale, a son of the late Bessie
  M. (LaRue) Walters and George W. Schardt.
    He is survived by his wife, the former Frances Pauline Pezzano; a
  son, George W. Schardt, York; and a daughter, Vickie A. Detwiler,
  Willow Grove, Pa.  He is also survived by four grandchildren.
    He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, York; the local
  United Auto Workers Union 786; and retired from Caterpillar after
  working 25 years as an inspector.
    Mr. Schardt was also a U.S. Marines veteran of the Korean Conflict.
    Arrangements were made by the John W. Keffer Funeral Home, Inc.,
  York.  Interment, Holy Saviour Cemetery, York.
