  SHAFFER
  
  Bertha R. Shaffer, 94, of Somerset, died Dec. 19, 2001 at Patriot
  Manor.  Born April 23, 1907 in Jenner Township.  Daughter of Albert
  and Laura (Gohn) Miller.  Preceded in death by parents, brother Noah,
  and two great-grandchildren and husband Fred C. Shaffer who died Feb.
  17, 1989.  Survived by children Elaine, wife of George E. Mason,
  Davidsville, John E., married to the former Marjorie Sayers,
  Somerset, Patricia S., wife of Edward Platt, Shanksville, nine
  grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four
  great-great-grandchildren.  She was a life member and oldest living
  member of Zion Hoffman Lutheran Church.  She was a seamstress and
  owner operator of B Shaffer Yarn Shoppe in Somerset for over 20
  years.  Family receiving friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at
  George E. Mason Funeral Home Inc. Davidsville.  Services will be held
  11 a.m. Friday at Zion Hoffman Lutheran Church where remains will lay
  in state from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Rev. Kathy Kuehl
  officiating.  Interment Jenner Crossroads Cemetery.
