SHEPPARD David Edward Sheppard, aged 55 years and 11 months, a veteran barber of Meyersdale, passed away this (Thursday) morning at 5:45 o'clock at the Sheppard family home on Large Street, following a brief illness. While his health had been impaired for some time, his condition did not become serious until this week. He was a son of the late David R. Sheppard, a pioneer barber of Meyersdale. He learned the barbering trade under the tutelage of his father, and after the latter's death nine years ago, he and three of his brothers took over the business founded by their father and have continued it since under the firm name of Sheppard Bros. Surviving are these brothers and sisters: Isabel, of Baltimore, Md.; Emma, Mary Jane, Mervin, Reese and Theodore, all at home; Mrs. William Furst, of Washington, D.C.; William, of Baltimore. Mr. Sheppard was an upright industrious man, and a first class workman in his vocation. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Sunday morning at the family home, Rev. Tollie Caution of Cumberland, Md., officiating. Interment will be in union Cemetery, in charge of Undertaker W. C. Price. Meyersdale Republican, July 9, 1931
