Shumaker died last Saturday at the family home in Johnstown, following an illness of ten years, two years of which period he was entirely blind. Born in Meyersdale, May 20, 1888, he was a son of the late Rev. David F. and Emma (Miller) Shumaker. He entered the employ of the Carnegie-Illinois Steel Company at its Lorain plant May 16, 1906, and was pensioned in 1934. He was an active member of the Moxham Church of the Brethren until health prevented his attendance, having served as deacon, trustee, chorister and teacher of the Wide- Awake Bible Class. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Essie (Stuver) Shumaker; a brother, Gilbert A. Shumaker, Johnstown; a nephew, David J. Shumaker, with the United States Army in California, and a niece, Mrs. Elmer Snyder, Johnstown. Funeral services were conducted at the Shumaker residence Monday afternoon, in charge of his pastor, Rev. John Ellis. Interment was made in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnstown.
