Simpkins, 83, of Salisbury RD 1, died Monday, June 29, 1987, at his home. Born in Salisbury April 8, 1904, he was a son of the late Stewart and Katherine (Kolflesh) Simpkins. He was a retired coal miner and a former member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mae E. (Wilt) Simpkins; four sons, Bernard E. Simpkins, Benton City, Wash.; Robert W. Simpkins, Santa Maria, Calif.; Stanley N. Simpkins, Wonder Valley, Calif.; and Walter G. Simpkins, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Patsy L. Sprecker, of Virginia; Mrs. Nancy L. Brink, Altoona; and Mrs. Betty Lansberry, Salisbury RD 1; one brother, Edward Simpkins, Ellerslie, Md.; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Petro, Lakeland, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. Friends were received in the Thomas Funeral Home where services were conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. David E. Fetter. Interment, Salisbury Cemetery. The Republic, July 9, 1987 [S1754]
