Born Jan. 8, 1897, in Greenville Township, Somerset County. Daughter of the late Jesse C. and Amelia (Paul) Miller. Preceded in death by husband, John Henry Slagle, on Oct. 20, 1978, and 3 brothers: Irvin, John and Edgar Miller, and 5 sisters: Mary Brill, Emma Poorbaugh, Grace Harding. Anna Braeseeker and Lydia Miller. Survived by 3 daughters: Mrs. Andrew J. (Marie) Gurzenda, Somerset RD 5; Mrs. Albert (Pauline) Burner, Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Chester (Hazel) Lowry, Akron, Ohio; three grandchildren: Donald F. Williams, Glencoe RD 1; Mrs. Dale (Linda) Clay, Wilsonville, Or., and Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Rubin, Battleground, WA. Also four great-grandchildren. Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday. Rev. Glen E. Saddler officiating.
