(Brownie) Smith, 75, of Glencoe RD 1, died in Meyersdale Nov. 26, 1977. Born July 28, 1902, in Bedford County, he was the son of the late Louis Smith and Elizabeth (Cook) Smith. His wife, Mabel Mary (Dively) Smith, two sons, six brothers and one sister preceded him in death. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and the Brotherhood of Maintenance Way of the Chessie System. He was a retired trackman with the Chessie System. He is survived by seven sons, Thomas Smith, Robert Smith, James A. Smith, Herbert Smith, John Smith, all of Meyersdale, Kenneth Smith, Holsopple [sic], Pa., Harry W. Smith, Jr., Glencoe; six daughters, Mrs. Nancy Noble, Mrs. Ruth Shipley, Mrs. Ethel Donges, Mrs. Arlene Gallagher, all of Meyersdale; Mrs. Dorothy Leister, Glencoe; Mrs. Hazel Tomlinson, Central City; 43 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Snyder and Rev. Tim Storms officiating. Interment, Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. The Republic, December 1, 1977 [S2076]
