Smith, O'Carm., 72, of New Baltimore, died June 10, 1977 at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg. Born Sept. 7, 1904 in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Kutschera) Smith. Survived by brother: Brother Jacob Smith, S.T., Holy Trinity, Ala. He received PHB degree, 1930, from Mt. Carmel Preparatory Seminary, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Professed Aug. 15, 1925. Did his theological studies at DePaul University, Chicago, where he was ordained May 22, 1932. Received Masters degree in English from Notre Dame University, South Bend, Ind., in 1935. Former associate pastor in Chicago; Englewood, N.J.; Pittsburgh and Levenworth, Kan. Served as pastor at Our Lady of Peace and St. Patrick's Catholic Church, both in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Baltimore from 1954 to 1966. Pastor of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garnett, Kansas from 1969 to 1973, when he retired at the Carmelite Monastery in New Baltimore. Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. Wed. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore. The Rev. Robert C. Flaherty, O'Carm., principal celebrant and the Rev. Leonard Kinzler, O'Carm., who will deliver the homily. Interment, New Baltimore Church Cemetery. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the church where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
