Born Dec. 2, 1917, in Jenner Township, son of Frank and Mary (Friedline) Spangler. Preceded in death by parents; his wife, the former Mary Louise Amato, on April 1, 1996; brothers Charles, Harry and David Spangler; and sisters Myrtle Swartz, Mae Jackson, Elsie Baughman and Ida Maust. Survived by daughter, Mrs. Richard L. (Gloria J.) Ackerman of Latrobe; two grandchildren, Mrs. Harry D. (Alyssa) Yacoboni of Greensburg and Mrs. Philip J. (Jennifer L.) Smith of Whitney; and great-grandson Chase Christian Smith. Brother of Mrs. Carrie Stufft of Somerset, Mrs. Edward (Etta) Landis of Berlin, Richard Spangler of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Mrs. Scott (Ruth) Wallace of Provo, Utah. World War II Veteran in the U.S. Army. He was a Somerset Township dairy farmer. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Sherman H. Berkey officiating. Interment, Jennerstown United Church of Christ Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Somerset "In Touch" Hospice, 1590 N.
