Spickler, 75, Hagerstown, Md., died Jan. 29, 1997 at Washington County Hospital. Born May 31, 1921 in Cearfoss, Md., the son of the late Harry D. Spickler and Olive M. Bowers Spickler Stouffer. He owned and operated Spickler Coal Co. He was a Somerset County Coal broker. He owned and operated various coal strip mines. He bought and sold heavy equipment. He attended Maugansville Bible Brethren Church. He is survived by three sisters: Elsie J. Sharer, Genevieve G. Clever and Cora I. Melback all of Hagerstown, Md.; one brother, Harry D. Spickler of Hagerstown, Md.; numerous nieces and nephews; and fiance [sic] Gladys L. Roche of Hagerstown. He was preceded in death by a sister: Naomi M. Miller. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home. The Rev. John C. Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cearfoss, Md. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
