Stayrook, 81, New Baltimore, died Aug. 17, 1997, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Nov. 18, 1915, in Hollsopple. Son of the late Francis F. and Margaret (Blough) Stayrook, Hollsopple. First wife, Mary M. (Martin) Stayrook, died Aug. 18, 1986. Member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Baltimore. Charter member of New Baltimore Volunteer Fire Company and New Baltimore Sportsmen Club. Survived by second wife, Arlene (Speicher) Walters; son Frederic L., married to the former Audrey DeVinney, Salt Lake City, Utah, and daughter, Rita, wife of Thomas Stalnaker, Pierce, Colo. Brother of Erma Ott, Johnstown; Richard Stayrook, Berlin RD 1; William Stayrook, Johnstown RD 4; Edna Cox, Linesville, and Vernon Stayrook, Strongsville, Ohio. Six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Retired carpenter and roofer. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, where wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore, Rev. Mark Begly, celebrant. Interment, St. John's Cemetery.
